With classes every day of the week at our home base in Columbia and throughout Howard County schools, DLC is a great place for educators, artists, and students to work!

Set Designers

Our intimate stage and 120-seat theater asks for creative ways for Set Designers to create place while maximizing the space. We are looking for a candidate who has 3-5 years of experience with digital drafting, supply budgeting, and overseeing a construction team. This person will work with the Design Consultant, Production Coordinator, and Scenic Carpenter, and will report to the General Manager. Expectation: - With the input of the Design Consultant and Production Coordinator, design set pieces and scenery plans. - Create a construction plan. - Build a supply list and source materials, staying on budget. - Schedule and lead load-in. - Review rehearsal and show reports. Carpenters

DLC is looking for Scenic Carpenters for the remainder of the 2023 season and to review portfolios of Carpenters looking for future projects. This person will work with the Set Designer and Production Coordinator to create the set. They will report to the Production Coordinator. Expectation: - Construct set pieces and scenery plans provided by the Set Designer during load-in. - Review rehearsal and show reports for any set damages and work with the Production Coordinator to fix them. - Lead strike and make sure the shop is properly put back together. Currently Seeking: Office Assistants

Drama Learning Center is looking for 2 - 3 dynamic new part-time office assistants.

  • Respond to parent emails regarding class details, ticketing, forms, etc.

  • Safely handle confidential information.

  • Enter student, class, and teacher information into our database.

  • Print and copy paperwork for classes/teachers.

  • Draft contracts from templates using details provided by the Operations Manager.

  • Answer phones and attend to the caller's request.

  • Enroll students in classes (as needed, most of our enrollment takes place in the online marketplace).

  • Process ticket forms for each class.

  • Assist with shutting down the building on evenings and opening the building on weekends.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Beginner to intermediate grasp of Google Business Suite or Microsoft 365.

  • Expert at personal time management.

  • Great people skills and customer service report.

  • Team player.

  • An understanding of the performing arts world is nice, but is not required!

 

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS AVALABLE:

Monday - Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 pm 

Sunday, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

TRAINING: $15/hr for up to 30 days probationary period

AFTER TRAINING: $16.00 - $17.50 an hour commensurate with experience, reviewed after 6 months
