Summer Camp – What to Expect

Summer is a time for fun, and we definitely like to strike a great balanace between work and play in our Summer Drama Camps. We find that a lot of first-time campers are curious about what they can expect during their days in a drama camp at DLC. While some of our specialty camps (like Cosplay, Theatre Tech, and Director-in-Training) have a different format, the below sample schedule is a good indicator of what you can expect most days to look like for our performance-based camps. The first two days are generally comprised with "Getting to Know You" activities, drama games, orientation to the facility, and auditions/casting placement.

After that, a typical camp day looks something like this:

  • 9am – 9:15am: Drop off, get settled
  • 9:15am – 9:30pm: Warm ups
  • 9:30am – 10:30am: Rehearsal 1 (Music, Staging, or Choreography)
  • 10:30am – 10:45am: Snack/Rest room Break
  • 10:45am – Noon: Rehearsal 2 (Music, Staging, or Choreography)
  • Noon – 12:45pm: Lunch & Recess
  • 12:45pm – 1:15pm: Drama Games, Arts & Crafts
  • 1:15pm – 2:45pm: Rehearsal 3 (Music, Staging, or Choreography)
  • 2:45pm – 3pm: Final Wrap Up & Dismissal

Our three-week production camps (Alice in Wonderland and Legally Blonde) also can expect to have fun celebrating the week of the show with spirit week (pajama day, wacky tacky day, etc.), enjoy a walking field trip to Shadowland Laser Tag, and spend the final two days of camp sharing what they learned with family and friends through four final performances.

We hope that this answers some of the questions that you might have about what summer fun means at Drama Learning Center. Make sure you register for our Summer Drama Camps by February 15th to save up to $100 off each session of camp!
