Getting To Know Our Winter Staff #8
Over the next couple of weeks, we will introduce you to the faces you can find at DLC teaching classes this winter! Next up is Mr. Andrew!
Meet Our Teaching Artist: Mr. Andrew
What can students expect from your class?
This season, DLC is putting on plays, so one thing students can expect is learning how to perform in a theatrical play and how different it can be from doing a musical. They can also expect lots of unique and fun surprises during the three School’s Out Workshops I’m teaching.
What’s your favorite winter memory & why?
Although it’s not specific, I always enjoy the memories I have of spending Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s house with my family. They’re all kind of lumped together into moments of laughter, love, and joy. (And the Christmas presents never hurt either!)
What is your fondest memory of teaching/directing for DLC?
One time, I had a student who was struggling to participate and being disruptive during class. I took some time to talk with them one-on-one, which led to me helping the student process some negative feelings they were having at the time. After a while, they felt encouraged and then participated the rest of class. That memory reminds me of the significant impact I have on the kids I work with and it’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I love moments like these where I have opportunities to connect with students and help them succeed.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
I can do many impressions of cartoon characters! Some of my favorites voices (and the kid’s favorites too) are Kermit the Frog and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Andrew is scheduled to Assistant Direct at Bryant Woods, Triadelphia Ridge, Fulton Elementary, and our Friday onsite class. He is also scheduled for several of our School's Out Workshops! Learn more about our classes and register for one today on our Winter Session page.
