Getting To Know Our Winter Staff #14
Over the next couple of weeks, we will introduce you to the faces you can find at DLC teaching classes this winter! Next up is Ms. Lila!
Meet Our Teaching Artist: Ms. Lila
What can students expect from your class?
In my class, students not only challenge themselves by learning, creating & memorizing dances, plays, and songs; in my class, students also have an absolute BLAST! From playing games, to telling each other about our days, we create an open, supportive & collaborative environment where everyone feels free to be their best, most creative selves!
What’s your favorite winter memory & why?
One of my favorite winter memories was collaborating with my kids to create an original play based off of their super heroes/villains! Their enthusiasm and creativity for creating something out of nothing was so beautiful and thrilling to see & support!
What is your fondest memory of teaching/directing for DLC?
I’d say my fondest memory from teaching at DLC was getting to chat with all of the students every week & see their progress over the entire session. One student started the class and was pretty shy, at least when it came to performing - he ended up volunteering to sing a solo, AND inspired one of our class projects (creating a “theme song” for our superhero play). It’s just magical to see these kids pop out of their shells and have fun!
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
My fun fact: I basically grew up at DLC! Not only was I a proud member of the TYA company for over 10 years; I began my time at DLC doing classes and camps very similar to the ones I teach now! It feels very full circle & I’m thrilled to be able to give back & teach at an organization that gave ME so much growing up - a love and passion for creating art and theatre!
Lila is scheduled to direct our Virtual Monday Class "Musical Theatre Classics!" Learn more about our classes and register for one today on our Winter Session page.
