TYA SENIOR COMPANY

TYA is Drama Learning Center’s Teen Professional Company. Available by audition only, the TYA class allows students to work in a professional theatre environment as they learn about all aspects of theatrical work. Regionally recognized and critically acclaimed, TYA produces two professional shows each season in January and June. 

TYA Senior Company Fall/Winter Production
"Carrie The Musical"

Eligible Grades: 8-12 & TYA Alums
Class Times: Saturdays, 2:00 - 5:00 pm

Class Dates: Sept 27 - Jan 10, 2015 (No class Nov 29 or Dec 27)
Additional rehearsal dates for solo and small group work will be scheduled based on cast availability. Please submit a complete list of conflicts at auditions.

Dress rehearsals: Jan 11-15, 2015
Performances: Jan 16-25, 2015

Tuition Option 1: $650 payment-in-full due by Sept 27

Tuition Option 2: Three payments of $225 due Sept 27, Nov 1 & Dec 1

TYA JUNIOR COMPANY (NEW FORMAT)

Junior Company is an opportunity for upper-level students with TYA aspirations to further develop skills in audition preparation, harmony singing, character development, and more. To celebrate its 5th season, Junior Company students will now produce a full scale musical in the Fall and a song and scene showcase in the Winter. Students who show skill development in both sessions will be invited to participate in a special Spring workshop which will allow them to be featured in select scenes in Senior Company’s June production.

To Audition

  1. Call 410-997-9352 to set up an audition time or email DLC@dramalearningcenter.com.

  2. Prepare a song of your choice (sheet music required) and a 1-2 minute monologue.

  3. Fill out TYA Audition Form (below), list all conflicts for the rehearsal period—include weekday conflicts, read and sign the TYA Expectations Form (below). You will not be able to audition without completed paperwork.

  4. Bring the forms to your audition along with a recent picture.

  5. Break a leg!

Students who are age eligible for both companies will be considered for both
and placed accordingly at the discretion of the directors.

TYA SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The TYA Scholars Program is a college preparatory program for students interested in pursuing a collegiate and professional career in theatre. TYA directors will offer up to two students per grade level the opportunity to participate in the TYA Scholars Program, which will be a full school year commitment to both TYA shows and have the following additional objectives per grade level:

Freshman Year  Continue repertoire development.
Sophomore Year  Hone audition technique.
Junior Year  Establish target colleges and audition material, produce DVD Reel of audition material, apply to Musical Theatre Summer Intensives.
Senior Year  Finalize applications and auditions, make final decision, establish action plan.

Tuition is $525 per season (Fall, Winter, & Spring) and includes tuition to both TYA sessions and select private coachings with TYA directors. Interested candidates should email a letter of interest to Ms. Stephanie Williams (Artistic Director of Drama Learning Center) at Stephanie@dramalearningcenter.com and bring a copy of the letter with them to auditions.

TYA Alums have studied or are currently studying at such prestigious programs as: Catholic University, NYU Tisch, Marymount Manhattan, University of Maryland, Elon, James Madison University, Indiana University, Wagner College, Wright State University and others.
